The Department of Chinese Literature works to maintain the legacy of classical Chinese literature as well as to teach and research Taiwanese culture and indigenous literature. Traditional Chinese academic courses such as the Principles of Righteousness and Reason, Rhetoric, Textual Criticism etc. are offered by the department.
Aesthetic awareness and humanitarian concerns are taught in courses that address art appreciation, calligraphy, folk culture, and seal cutting. Moreover, the department holds play performances, puppet shows, and traditional operas to provide students with hands-on experiences of indigenous arts.
The department cooperates with other Chinese departments in Taiwan, constantly designs diversified courses, and keeps pace with political, financial, social and cultural trends.
