The mission of the Department of Finance is to prepare future financial leaders and scholars for success in the fields of finance and business law. Students are expected to write effectively, be ethical, and take a global perspective while pursuing their chosen disciplines. Members of the department strive to be at the forefront of knowledge through research, teaching, service, and outreach efforts.
The department has four undergraduate areas of specialization: 1.) finance management; 2.) financial decision; 3.) financial engineering and 4.) asset management. Graduate students focus mostly on: 1.) the role and management of financial intermediaries; 2.) an understanding of markets; 3.) the valuation of financial assets; 4.) determination and behavior of interest rates and rates of return on assets; and 5.) incentives and determinants of corporate behavior.
