The of 12th British Invention Show Awarding Ceremony was held on November 9, 2012 in which all the twenty three entries from Taiwan have been awarded with a total of twenty two gold, nine silver and seven bronze medals. This marks the best winning record history of Taiwan in British Invention Show.
Students from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering of Providence University, Shen Yi Jie (沈義傑), Jhang Hen Cih (張恆慈) and Chen Han Wun (陳漢文) won one gold medal for their excellent invention of the motion sensing robot. By simulating the reaction of human’s movement, the robot can be used in disposing dangerous objects, like bombs. The students are more than glad to have the opportunity to share different concepts and ideas with the other outstanding inventors around the world.
Meanwhile, Mini- Eco refrigerator by Wang Jyun (王峻) won two gold medals while Integrated Solutions Technology (聯合聚晶公司) took two gold medals for a new model of STN In-Cell Device for Touch Pad IC, and the Portable Digital Microscope by Yong Fong Cheng Construction Company (永豐盛建設公司) also won one gold medal.
In addition, the mobile Infrared camera, designed by Gao Min Sian (高旻憲), a graduate student of National Formosa University, also won one gold medal. Gao expressed his gratitude to his parents and teachers for their support.
Taipei Chengshih University of Science and Technology won nine gold medals. The research team led by Associate Professor Yen Hsin (蔡彥欣), brought to the show six impressive entries that include a device which can sterilize shoes automatically, an energy-saving LED, a new designed ECO scavenge pipe and a handy smart suitcase. Each of these entries won two gold medals and one gold medal for the heat storage bed.
Taipei Medical University also won three gold medals which is the best winning record in one single entry for the new nano stuff which can be applied on the nostril treatment. Professor the Department of Electro-Optical Engineering of Vannung University, won two gold medals for his invention of the tide power generation system. After the show, Professor Jhou Jian Heng (周鑑恆) mentioned that the landscape of Britain is good for generating power from the tide, and for this reason, he would like to share his invention to the colleges for further research.
Students from Tunghai University, Hung Yi Jhih (黃尹姿) and Tsai Min Shan (蔡旻珊) also won gold medals for their electric frozen plate. Huang and Tsai admitted that they have learned many precious and unforgettable experiences with the research team in solving different problems.
