The American Dream, an Exhibition


     An exhibition on study in the USA titled, “The American Dream,” sponsored by the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) was held on December 9th until January 17th , 2014 on the 3rd Floor of the Luking Library.

  President Chuan Yi Tang of Providence University and President Bing Qian Lee of Feng Chia University together with Mr. Rong Feng Wu of the Department of Education of Taichung City and AIT Public Diplomacy Section Chief, Mr. Joseph Bookbinder opened the ceremony.

With the aim of encouraging PU students to go abroad to study, photos of Taiwanese students studying in the USA were on display.  There were also displays on different periods of Taiwan development as well as the daily needs and the difficulties encountered at the beginning by the Taiwanese students while studying in the USA. Despite these hardships; however, students are inspired by the exhibition to realize their American dream someday. Studying in the USA is the dream and goal of many Taiwanese students.

      At the opening ceremony, President Tang says, “To face global competitiveness, Providence University encourages its students to actively join the “411 Study Abroad Program” which aims at developing students’   worldview.” This “411 Study Abroad Program” gives deserving students the opportunity to study abroad during their winter or summer vacation or enjoy being exchanged students once during their college years.”

      He also mentions that Providence University has abundant foreign language resources and complete international exchange students’ system.  As a matter of fact, over 235 colleges and universities around the world are members of ISEP with Providence University as the only university from Taiwan as its member. Through ISEP all PU students have the opportunity to go abroad to study and have a lifetime experience of having international learning and be globally competitive.
