Providence University, together with 48 other Catholic schools around Taiwan, started this Christmas season with the tree lighting ceremony. This was an occasion to remind us to be thankful for the many blessings of this year and to bless the coming New Year.
President Matthew Teh Yu-Ming, in his remarks, encourages us to share Jesus’ light with others and spark more actions of love. He hopes that love will fill our school, society and nation.
Bishop Wang Yu-Jong, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, in his message asks us to pray for harmony and end of violence. Let love replace hatred, and let the Light brought by Jesus' birth warm our society.
Christmas is a time of giving and being mindful of others' needs. Providence University joins other Catholic schools in the country in donating to the Catholic Kuang Jen Social Welfare Foundation. In addtition, Providence University extends donations to Caritas Internationalis for typhoon victims and Miracle PLace in Taishan serving the elderly.
To continue spreading the spirit of Christmas, the Office International Affairs and the Campus Ministry Office are organizing a group of carolers to sing around the campus on December 21st to the 24th. Join in! Let's celebrate the birth of Jesus!
A Blessed Christmas to all!
"I have always thought of Christmas as a good time; a kind, forgiving, generous, pleasant time; a time when men and women seem to open their hearts freely, and so I say, God bless Christmas!"
