Providence University Committed to Internationalization

Providence University maintains its Teaching Excellence Program through the internationalization of the student body. During the summer of 2010, Providence University students were among the participants in a variety of international study programs, conferences and camps.

A total of 137 students attended Summer Intensive English Programs abroad. Those studying in Japan were the nineteen (19) students who traveled to Nihon University and five (5) students who took part in the program at Yamaguchi University. Twenty-seven (27) students studied at Woosong University in Korea, while thirty-three (33) attended summer English classes at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. A large number of students took classes in the United States, including twelve (12) at the University of Mississippi, ten (10) at Felician College, twenty-five (25) at Azusa Pacific University, and six (6) at Edinboro University.

President Tang Chuan Yi of Providence University, Sister Anne Therese Falkenstein, S.P., and Mr. Wei Yuan, a student in the Tourism Department, recently attended the 18th Conference of the Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASEACCU) held in Bangkok, Thailand,

Misses Albee Hung and Aki Yeh participated in the 2010 ACUCA Student Camp in Daegu, Korea. Both students appreciated the great opportunity to be among young Christian leaders who take initiative in protecting and preserving God's creation.

Eight students, each of whom serves as a member of the Ambassador Elite at Providence University, were among more than 300 students who participated in an educational training program in Beijing. Another eight students from Providence took part in a program at Hefei University of Technology. These cultural and educational trips enriched our students with opportunities to interact with students from Mainland China as well as with students from the various universities in Taiwan.

One hundred (100) Providence University students are off as exchange students for one or two semesters of the 2010-2011 academic year. They will be studying in 21 different colleges and universities in Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Spain, Switzerland,and the United States. They are benefiting from the monetary aid which the Ministry of Education of Taiwan distributed among the institutions to assist students to pursue their dreams of studying abroad. Providence University received the highest amount of any university in Taiwan.
