Office of International Affairs: 2010 Summer Retreat for Staff

During summer and winter vacations, the staff of the Office of International Affairs selects a relaxing place to go for planning, playing, and just being together.

This summer the staff spent two days at Teacher Lee”¦s Cabin in Nanchuang.

Activities included a brief tour with traditional Hakka meals in downtown Nanchuang. The business meeting focused on Task Formulation and Organizational Design, Review of Office Management Protocol, and brainstorming for the Teaching Excellence Project. The first day closed with an evening of singing by talented members of the staff. The retreat concluded with a two-hour sharing conversation with Dr. Nathan Myers, Associate Professor of Educational Foundations and Director of the Center for Educational Development and Research of Ashland University in Ohio. Dr. Myers explained how Ashland University promotes internationalization starting from administration and faculty levels to the student population. As a participant in Providence University”¦s Visiting Scholar Program for International Partners this summer, Dr. Myers conducted workshops while continuing his own learning of Chinese Mandarin and immersing himself in Taiwan”¦s cultures.
