Two Spanish Department students, Ah Ying-Jin and Chang Jing¡VMin went to the Medical College of Qinghai as volunteers. Their meeting of about 200 orphans and street children in Tibet strongly motivated these two students to raise funds, so they planned a picnic to celebrate their birthdays together which happened to be on the same day. Because it rained that day, they hosted the celebration in a classroom. From their own personal money each celebrant spent more than NT $ 5,000 for pizza and drinks for the party, and each participant was asked to donate at least NT $ 30 to contribute toward the rebuilding of a school destroyed by an earthquake.
More than a hundred generous students praised and responded to this admirable initiative, raising about NT $ 30,000. Mr. Chu Yung Shiang from the Eden Social Welfare Foundation was surely touched by the values of Ah and Chang. He said that the Foundation has raised NT $ 7,000,000 and still needs NT $ 5,000,000 to build a school.
